Description
A crunchy granola inspired by classic baklava flavors, made with toasted oats, mixed nuts, honey, and warm spices, quickly prepared in the air fryer for a fragrant and satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/3 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)
- 1/3 cup dried fruit such as raisins or chopped dates (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped walnuts, pistachios, sliced almonds, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the honey, olive oil or melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the honey mixture over the oats and nuts, stirring well to coat everything evenly.
- Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
- Spread the granola mixture in an even layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring it is not too thick.
- Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even toasting.
- Remove the granola once it becomes golden and fragrant.
- Let the granola cool completely so it becomes crisp.
- Stir in the orange zest and dried fruit if using, then serve or store.
Notes
- Watch the granola carefully while air frying because nuts and honey can brown quickly.
- Dried fruit should be added after cooking to prevent burning.
- Pecans or hazelnuts can be used instead of or in addition to other nuts.
- Shredded coconut or sesame seeds can be added for extra texture.
- For a vegan version, replace honey with maple syrup or agave syrup.
- Store granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
