Description
Air Fryer Light Churros are a healthier twist on the classic fried treat—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and cooked to golden perfection without deep frying. They’re quick, easy, and just as satisfying with a dusting of cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Neutral oil spray (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat the water, butter, salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar over medium heat until boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour all at once until a thick dough forms and pulls away from the sides.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then beat in the eggs one at a time until smooth and glossy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe strips or shapes onto a parchment-lined tray.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place churros in the air fryer basket, spacing them slightly apart. Spray lightly with oil if desired.
- Air fry for 10–12 minutes until golden and puffed.
- While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
Notes
- Preheat the air fryer for crispier results.
- Spraying with oil helps browning.
- Use a zip-top bag with the corner snipped if you don’t have a piping bag.
- Churros are best served fresh but can be reheated in the air fryer.
- Freeze the dough, not the cooked churros, for future use.
