Description
Apple and brie puff pastry bites are elegant, flaky appetizers that pair buttery puff pastry with creamy brie and sweet, crisp apple. They’re quick to make but taste like something from a gourmet spread—perfect for parties, holidays, or cozy nights in.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 4 oz brie cheese, cut into small cubes
- 1 apple (thinly sliced or diced; Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work well)
- 1–2 tbsp honey or fig jam (optional, for added sweetness)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut it into 2‑inch squares.
- Place each square on the baking sheet. Optionally, press them gently into mini muffin tins to form cups.
- Place a cube of brie in the center of each square.
- Top the brie with a small piece of apple and a drizzle of honey or a dab of fig jam if using.
- Beat the egg and brush the edges of the puff pastry with the egg wash to help them brown.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden and the brie is melty.
- Let cool slightly, then garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary before serving.
Notes
- Substitute pear slices for the apple for a softer, delicate flavor.
- Add a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts on top for extra crunch.
- Use cranberry sauce or fig jam instead of honey for a festive twist.
- Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg on the apple for a warm spice note.
- Use goat cheese or camembert if you don’t have brie on hand.
