Description

Apple Tart is a simple yet elegant dessert featuring thinly sliced apples arranged over a flaky pastry crust, lightly sweetened and spiced, then baked to golden perfection—ideal for fall gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 23 firm apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry or tart dough, thawed
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp apricot jam or honey (optional, for glaze)
  • Flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry or tart dough on a floured surface into a rectangle or circle. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
  3. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar (if using), and cinnamon.
  4. Arrange apple slices neatly over the dough, overlapping slightly.
  5. Brush apples with melted butter and sprinkle with extra sugar if desired.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the crust is golden and apples are tender.
  7. If using glaze, warm apricot jam or honey and brush over apples just after baking.
  8. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use almond cream or frangipane under apples for extra richness.
  • Sprinkle sliced almonds or nutmeg on top for added flavor.
  • For a rustic look, fold dough edges over apples to make a galette.
  • Reheat in a 350°F oven to restore crispness.
