Ingredients
- 2–3 firm apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
- 1 sheet puff pastry or tart dough, thawed
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp apricot jam or honey (optional, for glaze)
- Flour, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out puff pastry or tart dough on a floured surface into a rectangle or circle. Transfer to prepared baking sheet.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar (if using), and cinnamon.
- Arrange apple slices neatly over the dough, overlapping slightly.
- Brush apples with melted butter and sprinkle with extra sugar if desired.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the crust is golden and apples are tender.
- If using glaze, warm apricot jam or honey and brush over apples just after baking.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use almond cream or frangipane under apples for extra richness.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds or nutmeg on top for added flavor.
- For a rustic look, fold dough edges over apples to make a galette.
- Reheat in a 350°F oven to restore crispness.
