Description

Avocado chocolate mousse is a rich, silky dessert made with ripe avocados and dark cocoa that tastes incredibly indulgent—but is secretly healthy. It’s smooth, creamy, and naturally sweetened, making it a perfect treat when you want something satisfying without the guilt.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (or dark cocoa powder)
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey or your preferred sweetener)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of choice)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons melted dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa) or 1 teaspoon espresso powder for extra richness or depth

Instructions

  1. Scoop the flesh of the ripe avocados into a food processor or high‑speed blender.
  2. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, almond milk, and pinch of salt.
  3. If using, add melted dark chocolate or espresso powder now.
  4. Blend everything on high until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or cocoa level if needed; blend again until fully silky.
  6. Spoon the mousse into small serving bowls or jars. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set.
  7. Before serving, optionally top with berries, coconut whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate, or nuts for garnish.

Notes

  • Use very ripe avocados (soft to the touch) for the smoothest texture and best flavor.
  • This dessert is naturally vegan and dairy‑free if you use non‑dairy milk and skip honey.
  • For a keto‑friendly version, use a keto‑approved sweetener (like erythritol or monk fruit blend) instead of maple syrup/honey.
  • Prepare ahead: The mousse can be made a few hours in advance and chilled until serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. No reheating required—serve chilled.
