Description
Avocado chocolate mousse is a rich, silky dessert made with ripe avocados and dark cocoa that tastes incredibly indulgent—but is secretly healthy. It’s smooth, creamy, and naturally sweetened, making it a perfect treat when you want something satisfying without the guilt.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (or dark cocoa powder)
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey or your preferred sweetener)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: 1–2 tablespoons melted dark chocolate (70%+ cocoa) or 1 teaspoon espresso powder for extra richness or depth
Instructions
- Scoop the flesh of the ripe avocados into a food processor or high‑speed blender.
- Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, almond milk, and pinch of salt.
- If using, add melted dark chocolate or espresso powder now.
- Blend everything on high until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or cocoa level if needed; blend again until fully silky.
- Spoon the mousse into small serving bowls or jars. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set.
- Before serving, optionally top with berries, coconut whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate, or nuts for garnish.
Notes
- Use very ripe avocados (soft to the touch) for the smoothest texture and best flavor.
- This dessert is naturally vegan and dairy‑free if you use non‑dairy milk and skip honey.
- For a keto‑friendly version, use a keto‑approved sweetener (like erythritol or monk fruit blend) instead of maple syrup/honey.
- Prepare ahead: The mousse can be made a few hours in advance and chilled until serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. No reheating required—serve chilled.
