- 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Simmer until the mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Fit pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and trim the excess edges.
- Spoon the beef mixture into the crust and spread evenly.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese and pickles if using.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
