  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups day-old brioche or challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  3. Add the bread cubes to the bowl and gently toss to coat. Let soak for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add soaked bread cubes in a single layer and cook for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
  6. While cooking, whisk powdered sugar with milk or cream to make a glaze.
  7. Drizzle glaze over finished bites or serve it on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Use cinnamon swirl bread for extra cinnamon flavor.
  • Add mini chocolate chips or raisins for a sweet twist.
  • For a fall version, mix in pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice with the egg mixture.
  • Top with cream cheese icing for a richer finish.
  • Wait to add glaze until serving to keep bites crisp.
