- 4 cups day-old brioche or challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
Instructions
- Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Add the bread cubes to the bowl and gently toss to coat. Let soak for 5 minutes.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add soaked bread cubes in a single layer and cook for 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
- While cooking, whisk powdered sugar with milk or cream to make a glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over finished bites or serve it on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Use cinnamon swirl bread for extra cinnamon flavor.
- Add mini chocolate chips or raisins for a sweet twist.
- For a fall version, mix in pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice with the egg mixture.
- Top with cream cheese icing for a richer finish.
