Description
A warm, indulgent sandwich filled with creamy crab, sharp cheddar, and perfectly toasted bread. Easy to make and full of comfort food vibes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked crab meat (fresh, canned, or imitation)
- 2–3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices white or sourdough bread
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
- Butter, for toasting
- Optional: hot sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix crab meat, mayo, Dijon, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, salt, and pepper until creamy.
- Butter one side of each bread slice and place them butter-side down on a baking sheet.
- Spread the crab mixture on top of each slice.
- Top with sliced or shredded cheddar cheese.
- Broil for 3–5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden, and bread is toasted.
- Garnish with parsley or hot sauce if desired. Serve warm, open-faced or closed.
Notes
- Use sourdough or thick-cut white bread for best results.
- For added flavor, stir in Old Bay or add tomato slices under the cheese.
- Turn leftover filling into a dip or use it for mini melts on English muffins.
