Description

A warm, indulgent sandwich filled with creamy crab, sharp cheddar, and perfectly toasted bread. Easy to make and full of comfort food vibes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked crab meat (fresh, canned, or imitation)
  • 23 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices white or sourdough bread
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
  • Butter, for toasting
  • Optional: hot sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix crab meat, mayo, Dijon, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice and place them butter-side down on a baking sheet.
  3. Spread the crab mixture on top of each slice.
  4. Top with sliced or shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Broil for 3–5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden, and bread is toasted.
  6. Garnish with parsley or hot sauce if desired. Serve warm, open-faced or closed.

Notes

  • Use sourdough or thick-cut white bread for best results.
  • For added flavor, stir in Old Bay or add tomato slices under the cheese.
  • Turn leftover filling into a dip or use it for mini melts on English muffins.
