Description

Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese is a slow-cooked twist on classic meatloaf, packed with rich French onion flavors and topped with gooey melted Swiss cheese. Moist, savory, and comforting, it’s a hearty family favorite.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 packet dry French onion soup mix
  • 1½ cups caramelized onions (or sautéed until golden)
  • 68 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and soup mix. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Shape mixture into a loaf and place in the slow cooker.
  3. Top loaf with caramelized onions.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. In the last 10 minutes of cooking, place Swiss cheese slices on top and cover until melted.
  6. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • Use a beef-pork blend for richer flavor.
  • Swap Swiss cheese with provolone or Gruyère.
  • Stir in onion jam or balsamic vinegar for extra depth.
