Fresh Peach Fritters are golden and crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside, and bursting with sweet peach flavor. A perfect indulgence during peach season for breakfast, dessert, or a fruity snack.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: Makes about 12 medium fritters (serves 4–6)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh ripe peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Optional: powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine milk, beaten egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  3. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined.
  4. Fold in the diced peaches until evenly distributed in the batter.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat to 175 °C (350 °F).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, spacing them out. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar while still warm, if desired.

Notes

  • Add ½ tsp cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for a spiced flavor.
  • Make a glaze with powdered sugar and a splash of milk or lemon juice for a sweet drizzle.
  • Drop batter by teaspoons for mini fritters.
  • Mix in other fruits like blueberries for variation.
  • Reheat in a 175 °C (350 °F) oven for 5 minutes to regain crispiness.
