Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternative)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
- 4 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
- For the Special Sauce:
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp pickle juice or finely chopped pickles
- 1/8 tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the beef, breaking it apart, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together all the sauce ingredients until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Assemble bowls by layering chopped lettuce, then topping with cooked beef, tomatoes, red onion, pickles, cheese, and avocado slices if using.
- Drizzle with the special sauce or serve it on the side.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef (85–90%) for a flavorful but less greasy result.
- Swap beef for ground turkey, chicken, or a plant-based crumble to fit dietary preferences.
- For a dairy-free version, use a dairy-free cheese or skip the cheese entirely.
- For a keto version, use sugar-free ketchup in the sauce and skip any high-carb toppings.
- Store ingredients separately and assemble fresh to keep the lettuce crisp.
