Description

Easy crockpot chicken and gravy is a comforting, fuss‑free meal where tender chicken breasts cook in a rich, savory gravy all in one slow cooker. Perfect for busy days, this dish delivers homestyle flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1½ cups chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ cup sour cream (for extra creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  5. Shred the chicken in the crockpot using two forks and stir it into the gravy.
  6. If using, stir in sour cream just before serving for extra creaminess.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or biscuits. Garnish with chopped herbs.

Notes

  • For juicier texture, use boneless thighs instead of breasts.
  • Add mushrooms, peas, or carrots during the last hour of cook time for extra vegetables.
  • To lighten the dish, use low‑sodium broth and reduced‑fat cream soup.
  • If the gravy becomes too thick upon standing, stir in a splash of broth or water when reheating.
