Description
Easy crockpot chicken and gravy is a comforting, fuss‑free meal where tender chicken breasts cook in a rich, savory gravy all in one slow cooker. Perfect for busy days, this dish delivers homestyle flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 packets chicken gravy mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1½ cups chicken broth (or water)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: ½ cup sour cream (for extra creaminess)
- Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together the gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth.
- Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and shreds easily.
- Shred the chicken in the crockpot using two forks and stir it into the gravy.
- If using, stir in sour cream just before serving for extra creaminess.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or biscuits. Garnish with chopped herbs.
Notes
- For juicier texture, use boneless thighs instead of breasts.
- Add mushrooms, peas, or carrots during the last hour of cook time for extra vegetables.
- To lighten the dish, use low‑sodium broth and reduced‑fat cream soup.
- If the gravy becomes too thick upon standing, stir in a splash of broth or water when reheating.
