Description
These Edible Chocolate Pinecones are a fun and festive no-bake holiday treat made from peanut butter, chocolate, powdered sugar, and cereal. They look impressively realistic, taste rich and chocolaty, and are perfect for parties, gifts, or cozy winter desserts.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (or almond/sunflower butter)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups chocolate-flavored cereal (Chex, bran flakes, or cornflakes)
- Optional: extra powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Melt peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter in a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl until smooth. Stir until combined.
- Mix in powdered sugar and cocoa powder (if using) until a soft dough forms. Let cool slightly until moldable.
- Shape small handfuls into rough cones to form pinecone bases.
- Press cereal pieces into the surface, starting from the base and layering upward to resemble pinecone scales.
- Repeat with remaining dough and cereal to form 4–6 pinecones.
- Chill in the fridge for 20–30 minutes until set.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a snowy effect.
Notes
- Use Nutella or cookie butter for a flavor variation.
- Make mini or oversized versions depending on your presentation needs.
- Add edible gold or silver sprinkles for a festive holiday touch.
- Use sunflower butter for a nut-free version.
- Freeze extras and thaw in the fridge before serving.
