Description
A comfort food mashup that combines the buttery, garlicky crunch of garlic bread with the gooey, melty goodness of grilled cheese. Crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside, it’s the ultimate indulgent sandwich.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread (thick-cut white, sourdough, or Italian bread)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced (or ½ tsp garlic powder)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or a mix of melty cheeses)
- Optional: red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, tomato slices
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter, olive oil, garlic, parsley, and salt to make garlic butter.
- Spread garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer mozzarella and cheddar. Top with remaining bread slices, garlic butter side out.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until golden and cheese is melted.
- Let rest 1 minute before slicing. Garnish with parmesan or red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- Add tomato slices, bacon, or hot sauce for variation.
- Mix and match cheeses like provolone, gouda, or fontina.
- Serve with marinara or tomato soup for dipping.
- Reheat leftovers in a skillet or oven for best crispness—avoid microwaving.
- Store-bought garlic butter works in place of homemade if short on time.
