Description

A restaurant-quality crispy skin salmon inspired by Gordon Ramsay, featuring perfectly golden, crispy skin and tender, flaky fish finished with butter, garlic, and fresh herbs.


Ingredients

  • 2 salmon fillets, skin-on
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry thoroughly, especially the skin, and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Place the salmon skin-side down, pressing gently to keep it flat. Cook without moving for 5–6 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.
  4. Lower the heat and add butter, crushed garlic, and fresh herbs to the pan.
  5. Tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the salmon to baste it for 1–2 minutes.
  6. Flip the salmon briefly if needed to finish cooking the top.
  7. Remove from the pan and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the salmon skin is very dry for maximum crispiness.
  • Do not move the salmon while cooking the skin side.
  • Add paprika or chili flakes for a spicy variation.
  • Use only olive oil instead of butter for a lighter version.
  • Best enjoyed fresh for optimal texture.
