Description
A restaurant-quality crispy skin salmon inspired by Gordon Ramsay, featuring perfectly golden, crispy skin and tender, flaky fish finished with butter, garlic, and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
- 2 salmon fillets, skin-on
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme or rosemary
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Pat the salmon fillets dry thoroughly, especially the skin, and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
- Place the salmon skin-side down, pressing gently to keep it flat. Cook without moving for 5–6 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden.
- Lower the heat and add butter, crushed garlic, and fresh herbs to the pan.
- Tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the salmon to baste it for 1–2 minutes.
- Flip the salmon briefly if needed to finish cooking the top.
- Remove from the pan and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure the salmon skin is very dry for maximum crispiness.
- Do not move the salmon while cooking the skin side.
- Add paprika or chili flakes for a spicy variation.
- Use only olive oil instead of butter for a lighter version.
- Best enjoyed fresh for optimal texture.
