Description

Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with chocolate chips—made extra special by their festive heart shape. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, birthdays, or as a thoughtful homemade gift.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  7. Roll dough between two sheets of parchment paper to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut out hearts using a cookie cutter.
  8. Place cookies on baking sheet and press a few extra chocolate chips on top.
  9. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Chill dough before cutting to help cookies keep their shape.
  • Decorate with melted chocolate or sprinkles for a festive finish.
  • Store with a slice of bread to keep cookies soft longer.
  • Freeze cut-out dough for later baking—no thawing needed.
