Description
A Homemade Caramel Latte is a cozy, café‑style treat blending rich espresso (or strong coffee) with steamed milk and luscious caramel sauce. It’s quick, rich, and customizable — sweet, creamy, and perfect for a comforting morning or afternoon pick‑me-up.
Ingredients
- ½ cup brewed espresso or very strong coffee
- 1 cup milk (whole milk, oat milk, almond milk, or choice of milk)
- 2–3 tbsp caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: whipped cream, for topping
- Optional: extra caramel sauce for drizzle
- Optional: pinch of sea salt (for a salted‑caramel twist)
Instructions
- Brew a strong shot (or about ½ cup) of espresso or very strong coffee.
- While coffee brews, heat the milk on the stovetop or in the microwave until hot but not boiling. Froth the milk using a frother, whisk, or blender until nice and foamy.
- Stir 2–3 tablespoons of caramel sauce into the hot coffee until fully dissolved.
- Pour the frothed milk over the caramel‑coffee mixture, holding back foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
- Top with whipped cream (if using), drizzle a little extra caramel sauce, and add a pinch of sea salt for a salted‑caramel twist (optional).
- Serve immediately and enjoy warm.
Notes
- For a salted caramel latte, sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt on top.
- Use non‑dairy milks (oat, almond, soy) and non‑dairy whipped topping to make it dairy‑free.
- Adjust the amount of caramel to control sweetness. Start with 1–2 tbsp and add more if desired.
- For an iced version: brew coffee and caramel, pour over ice, then add cold frothed milk.
- If you don’t have a milk frother, shake hot milk in a jar with a tight lid or whisk vigorously before pouring.
