Description

These Homemade Soft Breadsticks are warm, fluffy, and buttery with a golden crust. Perfect as a side for soup, salad, or pasta, they’re easy to make and even easier to love — pillowy inside, customizable, and always crowd-pleasing.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for dough)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir and knead by hand or mixer for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a 6–8 inch rope.
  5. Place breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake breadsticks for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Brush hot breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder or Parmesan, if using.
