Description

Juicy Mediterranean-inspired chicken burgers seasoned with garlic, herbs, and lemon zest, topped with a creamy homemade tzatziki sauce for a fresh and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • For the chicken burgers:
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
  • For the tzatziki sauce:
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, grated and well drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For serving:
  • 4 burger buns or pita breads
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Red onion slices
  • Lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (well drained), garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, garlic, red onion, parsley, oregano, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 5–6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. Lightly toast buns or pita if desired.
  6. Assemble burgers with chicken patties, generous tzatziki sauce, tomato slices, red onion, and lettuce.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the chicken to keep burgers tender.
  • Drain cucumber thoroughly to prevent watery tzatziki.
  • Grill patties for a smoky flavor.
  • Store cooked patties and sauce separately for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze uncooked patties for up to 2 months.
