Description
A quick and comforting sandwich packed with shredded chicken in marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, and Parmesan, grilled between buttery golden bread for an easy chicken Parmesan-inspired meal.
Ingredients
- 8 slices sandwich bread or Italian bread
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken with marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder until well combined.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place four slices of bread butter-side down on a clean surface.
- Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese onto each slice.
- Spoon the chicken marinara mixture evenly over the mozzarella.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top, then add another layer of mozzarella.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the pan.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use leftover or rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Avoid adding too much sauce to prevent soggy bread.
- Add fresh basil or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
- Provolone can be substituted for mozzarella for a sharper taste.
- Reheat in a skillet or 350°F oven for 8–10 minutes to maintain crispness.
