Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz each) sliced peaches in syrup (or 4 cups fresh peaches with added sugar and juice)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven while preheating.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, and vanilla (if using) until just combined.
- Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
- Spoon peaches with syrup evenly over the batter without stirring.
- Sprinkle cinnamon on top, if desired.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until golden brown on top and bubbly around the edges.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Do not stir the batter and fruit—this creates the signature cobbler texture.
- Fresh or frozen peaches can be used; sweeten them with sugar and ensure there’s juice.
- Self-rising flour can replace all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Great served warm or at room temperature.
