Description

Microwave Macaroni and Cheese is a creamy, comforting single‑serve meal made in minutes right in the microwave. It’s perfect for quick lunches, snacks, dorm cooking, or late‑night cravings.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup elbow macaroni (or other small pasta)
  • About 3/4 cup water (enough to cover pasta by 1/2 inch)
  • 23 tablespoons milk or half‑and‑half
  • 1/31/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or other melty cheese)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional mix‑ins: 1 teaspoon butter, garlic powder, paprika, hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Place pasta in a microwave‑safe mug or bowl. Add water to cover the pasta by about 1/2 inch.
  2. Microwave on high for 4–5 minutes, stopping every minute to stir and check water level. Add more water if it evaporates too quickly and continue microwaving until pasta is tender.
  3. If there’s excess water once the pasta is cooked, carefully drain it or spoon out a little. Return pasta to the bowl.
  4. Stir in milk, shredded cheese, salt, and pepper. Add optional butter or seasonings if using.
  5. Microwave for another 30–45 seconds until the cheese melts. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning, then enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for smoother melt; pre‑shredded works too.
  • Add extra milk or a teaspoon of cream cheese for an even creamier texture.
