Description

Mint Julep is a classic Southern cocktail made with fresh mint, bourbon, simple syrup, and crushed ice—perfect for hot days and warm-weather gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 810 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (or 1 tsp sugar with a splash of water)
  • Crushed ice
  • Mint sprig, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place mint leaves in a sturdy glass or julep cup.
  2. Muddle gently with simple syrup to release oils, being careful not to tear the leaves.
  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  4. Pour in the bourbon and stir well until the glass becomes frosty.
  5. Top with additional crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig.
  6. Serve with a straw or sipping straw.

Notes

  • Add a splash of club soda for a lighter variation.
  • Infuse with peach or cherry-flavored bourbon for a twist.
  • Use a julep cup for a traditional presentation, but any sturdy glass works.
  • Crushed ice is essential for proper dilution and chilling.
