Description

Tender, juicy chicken thighs baked in a bright orange ginger sauce that’s savory, lightly sweet, and full of fresh citrus flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper and arrange them in a single layer in the dish.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine orange juice, orange zest, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water, then stir it into the sauce.
  6. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Pour the sauce evenly over the chicken thighs.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, spooning sauce over the chicken halfway through cooking.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Broil for a few minutes at the end to caramelize the sauce.
  • Adjust honey for a sweeter glaze if desired.
  • Sauce can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated.
