Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 lbs refrigerated or homemade bread dough (Rhodes rolls, crescent rolls, or pizza dough)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until mostly browned.
- Add chopped cabbage and diced onion to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and onions are soft.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll portions of dough into circles or rectangles. Spoon some of the beef and cabbage mixture onto each piece of dough.
- Fold dough over filling and pinch edges to seal. Place seam side down on baking sheet.
- Brush tops with olive oil or melted butter.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Add shredded cheddar cheese to the filling for extra flavor.
- Swap ground beef for turkey, sausage, or a vegetarian filling like mushrooms or lentils.
- Use puff pastry or biscuit dough for a different texture.
- Freeze unbaked or baked cabbage burgers for up to 2 months.
- Reheat in oven or air fryer to keep crust crispy.
