Philly Steak Cheese Fries combine crispy fries, savory steak, and melty cheese for an indulgent, loaded snack or meal. Inspired by Philly cheesesteaks, it’s a fun and flavorful twist perfect for sharing or enjoying solo.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen or homemade French fries
  • 3/4 lb thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 46 slices provolone or American cheese (or 1 cup shredded cheese)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: mayonnaise or cheese sauce for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Cook fries according to package directions or make homemade fries. Bake or fry until crispy and golden.
  2. While fries cook, heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sauté onions and bell pepper (if using) until softened and slightly caramelized.
  4. Add garlic and steak to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the steak is browned and cooked through.
  5. Layer cooked fries on a serving plate or pan. Top evenly with steak and vegetable mixture.
  6. Add cheese on top and cover with a lid or foil until melted.
  7. Drizzle with mayonnaise or cheese sauce if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add jalapeños or red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Use different cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack.
  • Top with mushrooms, bacon, or pickled jalapeños.
  • Drizzle with ranch, garlic aioli, or hot sauce for extra flavor.
  • Try sweet potato fries for a sweet-savory twist.
