Ingredients
- 1 cup waffle batter (homemade or prepared mix)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella (or preferred melting cheese)
- Your choice of toppings: pepperoni, cooked sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, etc.
- Optional: grated Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning
- Non-stick spray or butter for waffle iron
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron and lightly spray or brush with butter.
- Pour a small ladle of waffle batter into each well, enough to coat the bottom.
- Add a spoonful of pizza sauce over batter, sprinkle with cheese, and layer desired toppings.
- Cover with another thin layer of batter to seal the filling.
- Close the waffle iron and cook for 3–5 minutes, until waffles are golden and crispy.
- Carefully remove the stuffed waffles. Repeat until all batter and fillings are used.
Notes
- Add pepperoni and red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
- Include sautéed veggies like mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers for a veggie version.
- Turn them into breakfast waffles: fill with eggs, bacon or sausage, and cheddar.
- Create a dipping sauce by combining melted cheese with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Use a sandwich press or panini maker instead if you don’t have a waffle iron.
