Ingredients

- Black decorating gel, melted chocolate, or mini chocolate chips (for noses)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy.
- Gradually add sugar, one spoonful at a time, beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Mix in vanilla extract if using.
- Transfer meringue to a piping bag fitted with a large round tip.
- Pipe small mounds or swirls onto baking sheet to form bear faces.
- Press in candy eyes and a mini chocolate chip or gel dot for the nose.
- Attach ears using meringue dots, marshmallows, or candy melts.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until dry to the touch.
- Turn off oven and let meringues cool inside with door slightly open for 1 hour.
