Description

Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy cookies with a rich cocoa flavor, vibrant red color, and melty chocolate chips in every bite. They’re easy to make and perfect for holidays, gifting, or anytime you want a stunning and delicious treat.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop dough into balls and place on prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Use white chocolate chips for a red velvet cake-like twist.
  • Add a pinch of espresso powder to deepen chocolate flavor.
  • Chill dough before baking to help cookies keep their shape.
  • Freeze cookie dough balls and bake from frozen with a few extra minutes.
  • Microwave baked cookies for 10 seconds to enjoy warm.
