Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (buttermilk-style)
- 1/2 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar or pepper Jack cheese (optional)
- 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a mini muffin tin or line with paper liners.
- In a skillet, cook sausage with onions and garlic over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
- Separate biscuit dough and flatten each piece into a 3-inch circle.
- Spoon sausage mixture (and cheese, if using) into the center of each circle. Fold dough over filling and seal to form a ball.
- Place each filled biscuit into the muffin tin.
- Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 12–15 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Try a cube of cheese inside each for extra gooeyness.
- Add red pepper flakes or use spicy sausage for heat.
- Use fresh herbs like sage or thyme for extra flavor.
- Make a vegetarian version with plant-based sausage or beans and peppers.
