Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (or beef-and-pork mix)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- 8 oz spaghetti noodles, broken in half
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with chopped onion and garlic until meat is no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sugar if using. Stir well to combine.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or on HIGH for 2–3 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, break spaghetti noodles in half and press them into the sauce. Stir gently to submerge them.
- Cover and cook until noodles are tender, stirring once halfway through to prevent sticking.
- Stir again before serving, adjusting seasoning as needed. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- Swap half the beef for Italian sausage for a flavor boost.
- Add bell peppers or mushrooms for extra veggies.
- Finish with a splash of cream for richness.
- Add red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
- Stir once during pasta cooking to prevent sticking.
