  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf (8–10 slices)

Ingredients

  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash bananas in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Add sugar, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually stir dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until combined.
  6. Fold in optional add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for best flavor and sweetness.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread soft and moist.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
