Spaghetti Garlic Bread Bowls combine two classic favorites into one delicious and fun-to-eat meal. Crispy, buttery garlic bread bowls are filled with savory, saucy spaghetti for a comforting and satisfying dish.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • For the garlic bread bowls:
  • 4 small round loaves of bread (sourdough or Italian)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • For the spaghetti:
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut tops off bread loaves and hollow out the centers to create bowls, leaving a 1-inch border.
  2. Mix softened butter with minced garlic, oregano, garlic powder, and salt. Spread inside and outside of bread bowls.
  3. Place bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  4. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion for 2-3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  6. Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Add cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat. Stir in Parmesan and simmer for 2 more minutes.
  8. Spoon the spaghetti mixture into garlic bread bowls and garnish with fresh basil and extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Add cooked ground meat to the sauce for a hearty version.
  • Incorporate vegetables like zucchini or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
  • Top with mozzarella or provolone before baking for a cheesy finish.
  • To reheat, bake bread bowls at 350°F for 5-7 minutes; microwave spaghetti separately.
