Instructions
- Wash the lemons thoroughly and cut each into quarters.
- Place lemon quarters and sugar into a large mixing bowl or pitcher.
- Mash the lemons and sugar together with a wooden spoon or muddler for several minutes to extract juice and oils from the peel.
- Add the cold water and stir well.
- Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes.
- Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean pitcher to remove pulp, seeds, and peel.
- Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices if desired.

- Use club soda instead of water for a sparkling version.
