Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil. Reduce heat and stir in flour all at once. Stir constantly until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time until dough is smooth and glossy.
- Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto the prepared sheet or use a piping bag. Space evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and puffed. Turn off oven, crack door open, and let cool for 10 minutes to prevent deflating. Then remove and cool completely.
- In a bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Slice cooled puffs in half horizontally. Pipe or spoon whipped cream onto the bottom half, add sliced strawberries, then top with the other half.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
Notes
- Fold strawberry puree or jam into whipped cream for extra flavor.
- Drizzle with melted chocolate for a decadent finish.
- Fill with vanilla yogurt for a lighter version.
- Bake shells in advance and fill just before serving.
- Store filled puffs in fridge and eat within 24 hours for best texture.
