- 1/2 tsp baking soda (for cookie layer)

- 1 cup chocolate chips (for cookie layer)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare the brownie batter: Whisk melted butter with granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Prepare the cookie dough: Cream softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie batter and gently press them to cover most of the surface.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until edges are set and the center is slightly underbaked.
- Let the brookies cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.
Notes
- Swirl in peanut butter or Nutella for a twist.
- Use white chocolate chips or chopped walnuts for added variety.
