Description
Twix Thumbprint Cookies are buttery shortbread-style cookies filled with soft caramel and topped with a drizzle of melted chocolate. They’re a homemade twist on the classic Twix candy bar — simple, sweet, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 20–24 soft caramels (like Kraft or Werther’s)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips or melting chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg yolk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet. Press a thumbprint or spoon into the center of each ball to form a well.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. Cool completely.
- In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt caramels with heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Spoon caramel into the center of each cookie and allow it to set slightly.
- Melt chocolate and drizzle over cookies using a fork or piping bag. Let chocolate set before serving.
Notes
- Chill dough for 15–30 minutes before baking for better shape.
- Sprinkle sea salt on caramel for a salty-sweet twist.
- Use dark or white chocolate for different flavor variations.
- Add almond or coconut extract to the dough for extra flavor.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
