Description

A quick and easy Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry that recreates the classic takeout favorite right in your kitchen. This flavorful dish features tender flank steak, crisp broccoli, and a savory sauce made with soy and sesame oils, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak: Combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavor.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, approximately 3-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry the broccoli: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the broccoli florets, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and is tender-crisp.
  4. Combine and finish: Return the cooked beef to the pan, pour in the remaining soy sauce, and drizzle with sesame oil. Stir-fry all ingredients together for another minute to blend the flavors evenly.
  5. Garnish and serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot, garnished with chopped green onions. This goes perfectly over steamed rice or noodles for a wholesome meal.

Notes

  • Marinating the beef with cornstarch helps tenderize the meat and gives the sauce a slightly thicker consistency.
  • Be sure to use high heat for stir-frying to quickly cook ingredients while retaining their color and texture.
  • You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak for similar results.
  • Adjust soy sauce quantity based on your salt preference or use a low-sodium version for a healthier option.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
