Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 cups milk of choice
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract or 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, and water.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until strawberries soften and release juices.
- Lightly mash the strawberries and let the mixture simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
- Spoon a few tablespoons of strawberry syrup into the bottom of a glass.
- Add ice cubes on top of the syrup.
- Slowly pour in the milk to create a layered effect.
- Stir gently before drinking and add optional vanilla extract or condensed milk if desired.
