Description

Enjoy a quick and indulgent Caramelized Banana Split featuring caramelized sugar-topped bananas paired with creamy Greek yogurt and your choice of delicious toppings like granola, fresh fruit, honey, or nuts. This easy-to-make dessert or snack delivers a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess with minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Banana and Caramel

  • 1 banana
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

Base

  • ¾ cup Greek yogurt (any flavor, full or low-fat)

Toppings (optional)

  • Granola
  • Fresh fruit
  • Honey
  • Maple syrup
  • Jam
  • Peanut butter
  • Nuts

Instructions

  1. Slice the banana: Cut the banana in half lengthwise to create two long halves for the base of your banana split.
  2. Caramelize the sugar: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar evenly on one side of each banana slice. Using a culinary torch, carefully sweep the flame over the sugar until it bubbles and turns a dark golden brown, creating a caramelized crust. Allow the banana slices to cool for 1-2 minutes before assembling.
  3. Assemble the banana split: On a small plate or oval dish, place the banana slices with the brûlée side facing up. Then, using an ice cream scoop or spoon, add 1 to 3 scoops of Greek yogurt on top or alongside the bananas.
  4. Add desired toppings: Sprinkle your favorite toppings such as granola, fresh fruit, honey, maple syrup, jam, peanut butter, or nuts on or around the yogurt and banana for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a culinary torch, you can place the banana slices under a broiler for 1-2 minutes but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • Choose Greek yogurt flavor according to your taste preference—plain, vanilla, or fruit-flavored all work well.
  • Try different toppings to customize the banana split for sweetness, crunch, or added protein.
  • This recipe works great as a quick breakfast, snack, or light dessert.
