Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 8 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Sausage and Vegetables
- 12 ounces breakfast sausage, casing removed
- 1 cup diced bell peppers (red, green, or a mix)
- 1/2 cup diced onion
Cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Other
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and cook the breakfast sausage, breaking it into small pieces until fully browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add diced bell peppers and onions. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until softened and fragrant. Remove from heat.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth and well combined.
- Assemble Bake: Spread the cooked sausage evenly on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer the sautéed peppers and onions over the sausage. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly on top. Finally, pour the egg mixture over everything, ensuring it covers all the ingredients.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Rest and Serve: Allow the egg bake to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps it set further and makes serving easier. Enjoy warm.
