Description
Cranberry Brie Bites are a delightful appetizer that combines the creamy richness of Brie cheese with the tart sweetness of cranberry sauce, all encased in a flaky puff pastry. Perfect for holiday gatherings or special occasions, these bite-sized treats are easy to prepare and offer a harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
Ingredients
Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
Cheese
- 4 ounces Brie cheese, rind removed and cut into small cubes
Fruit Topping
- 1/3 cup whole cranberry sauce
Optional Garnish
- Fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is at the perfect temperature for baking the puff pastry bites evenly.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass about 2 inches in diameter, cut out 12 circles. Gently press each circle into the cups of a mini muffin tin to form little pastry cups.
- Add Brie Cheese: Place a small cube of Brie cheese into the bottom of each puff pastry cup, distributing the cheese evenly among the 12 cups.
- Add Cranberry Sauce: Spoon approximately one teaspoon of whole cranberry sauce over each Brie-filled pastry cup, making sure to cover the cheese without overflowing.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and Garnish: Remove the cranberry Brie bites from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. If desired, garnish each bite with a small sprig of fresh rosemary or a few thyme leaves for added aroma and presentation.
- Serve: Carefully remove the bites from the muffin tin and serve warm as a delicious appetizer for any festive occasion.
Notes
- Ensure the Brie is soft enough to melt nicely by letting it sit at room temperature before assembling.
- Whole cranberry sauce offers a beautiful texture contrast, but you can substitute with any cranberry preserves or chutney.
- Use fresh herbs sparingly to complement the flavors without overpowering the bites.
- These bites are best served warm to enjoy the melty cheese texture.
- Can be made ahead and reheated gently in the oven just before serving.
