Description
Cranberry Brie Bites are a festive and elegant appetizer combining creamy Brie cheese, tart cranberry sauce, and flaky puff pastry. These bite-sized treats are perfect for holiday parties or any special occasion, offering a delightful balance of savory and sweet flavors in every bite.
Ingredients
For the Brie Bites
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 8 oz Brie cheese, rind removed and cut into small cubes
- ½ cup cranberry sauce
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the Brie bites.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases. Cut the pastry into 12 equal squares to fit into a mini muffin tin.
- Assemble Bites: Place each puff pastry square into the cups of a mini muffin tin, gently pressing to form a small cup. Add a cube of Brie into each pastry cup, then top with about a teaspoon of cranberry sauce.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to promote a golden, glossy finish when baked.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden and the cheese is melted.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Garnish each bite with a small sprig of fresh rosemary if desired, then serve warm for best flavor.
Notes
- Make sure the Brie is at room temperature for easier cutting and better melting.
- Use whole cranberry sauce for texture or jellied cranberry sauce for a smoother bite, depending on preference.
- These bites can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
- For a nutty variation, sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts before baking.
- If puff pastry is not available, phyllo dough can be a substitute but will yield a crunchier texture.
