Perfect for holiday gatherings or anytime you want a festive appetizer, this no-cook dip is easy to prepare and bursting with bold flavors.
Ingredients
Cream Cheese Base
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup (60ml) sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
Toppings
- 1 cup fresh cranberries, chopped
- 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced (remove seeds for less heat)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- Optional: pinch of salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Base: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), honey, and lime juice. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to blend until smooth and creamy.
- Mix the Cranberries and Jalapeño: Finely chop the fresh cranberries and jalapeño pepper. If you prefer a milder dip, remove the seeds from the jalapeño before dicing. In a separate bowl, mix the chopped cranberries, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro together.
- Assemble the Dip: Transfer the cream cheese mixture to a serving dish, smoothing it into an even layer. Spread the cranberry and jalapeño mixture on top evenly to create a colorful, textured topping.
- Season to Taste: Add a pinch of salt and black pepper over the dip if desired to enhance flavors. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve: Serve chilled with crackers, tortilla chips, or fresh vegetable sticks as a flavorful and festive appetizer.
Notes
- For a vegan option, substitute cream cheese with a dairy-free alternative and adjust the sweetener accordingly.
- If fresh cranberries are not available, frozen cranberries can be used after thawing and draining any excess liquid.
- Adjust the jalapeño quantity to control the heat level of the dip.
- This dip can be prepared a day ahead for convenience and better flavor melding.
- Serve with an assortment of dippables like pita chips, celery sticks, or sliced cucumbers for variety.
