Description

This Crockpot Mixed Berry Jam is a delicious homemade preserve made from a blend of frozen berries, cranberries, and warm spices. Slow-cooked to perfection in a crockpot, it results in a smooth or chunky jam that’s perfect for spreading on toast, adding to desserts, or gifting in mason jars.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 3 Pounds Frozen Mixed Berry Blend
  • 1 Pound Fresh or Frozen Cranberries

Sweeteners & Spices

  • 2 ½ Cups Brown Sugar
  • 3 Teaspoons Ground Allspice
  • 2 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Ginger

Instructions

  1. Add Berries: Add all of the frozen mixed berries and cranberries to the slow cooker, ensuring an even distribution for cooking.
  2. Add Sugar and Spices: Sprinkle the brown sugar, ground allspice, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger evenly over the berries in the crockpot.
  3. Cook Berries: Cover the crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours, stirring about halfway through to combine the flavors and prevent sticking.
  4. Blend Jam: After cooking, use an immersion blender to blend the jam until smooth for a creamy texture or leave it slightly chunky according to your preference.
  5. Jar the Jam: Carefully pour the hot jam into clean mason jars and place the lids on top without sealing tightly.
  6. Cool and Store: Let the jars sit at room temperature for about 2 hours or until cooled, then tighten the lids securely and transfer the jars to the refrigerator for storage.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sugar to taste if you prefer a less sweet jam.
  • For a thicker jam, cook longer or mash some berries by hand before blending.
  • Use fresh or frozen cranberries depending on availability; frozen works well and is convenient.
  • The jam keeps well refrigerated for up to 3 weeks or can be frozen for longer storage.
  • Ensure jars and lids are sanitized before filling to maintain freshness and safety.
