Ingredients
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir in the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes crumbly.
- In another bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice and maple syrup or honey.
- Press about two-thirds of the oat mixture into the prepared baking dish to form the base.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the base.
- Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the apples.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.

- Quick oats can be substituted, but the bars will be softer.
