Description
These Easy Peach Tartlets are a delightful dessert featuring buttery, flaky puff pastry topped with sweet, juicy peach slices and a hint of cinnamon sugar. Perfectly sized for individual servings, they make a simple yet elegant treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
For the Tartlets
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 ripe peaches, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash)
Optional Toppings
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is hot enough for a perfectly crisp puff pastry.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth it slightly. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares. Place the squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar with ground cinnamon.
- Assemble the Tartlets: Arrange the thin peach slices on each puff pastry square, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the peaches.
- Prepare Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat the egg with water. Brush the edges of the puff pastry squares with the egg wash to help them brown beautifully.
- Bake the Tartlets: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the tartlets from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm peaches to avoid soggy tartlets.
- Ensure the puff pastry is cold before baking for best puff and flakiness.
- You can substitute peaches with nectarines or plums for a different flavor.
- For a vegan version, use a plant-based egg wash alternative like almond milk mixed with maple syrup.
