Description

Flower Pot Brownies are a charming and creative dessert that mimics the appearance of a flower pot filled with edible ‘soil’ brownies and decorated with colorful candy ‘flowers.’ This fun treat is perfect for parties, gifts, or any occasion that calls for a playful and delicious presentation. The brownies are moist and fudgy, crushed to resemble soil, and placed inside a small flower pot lined with parchment or foil for easy removal. Candy flowers or gummy candies are inserted on top to complete the garden look.

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 box brownie mix (about 1820 oz) or homemade brownie batter equivalent
  • Ingredients required for brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, water)

Decorations

  • 1 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies or Oreo cookies (to resemble soil)
  • Colorful gummy candies or candy flowers for decoration
  • Small flower pots (cleaned and lined with foil or parchment paper)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brownies: Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the brownie mix box or your recipe. Prepare the brownie batter according to package instructions or your homemade recipe.
  2. Bake Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into a greased baking pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs, typically 20-25 minutes depending on thickness. Allow to cool completely.
  3. Prepare Flower Pots: Line clean small flower pots with parchment paper or aluminum foil to make sure brownies can be easily removed and to keep pots clean and food-safe.
  4. Crush Brownies: Once cooled, cut the brownies into smaller pieces and then crush them into crumbs resembling soil using your hands or a food processor.
  5. Fill Flower Pots: Spoon the crushed brownie crumbs into the lined flower pots, pressing gently but not too hard to simulate soil.
  6. Decorate: Arrange colorful gummy candies or candy flowers on the top of the brownie crumbs to mimic flowers growing out of the pot.
  7. Serve: Present the flower pot brownies immediately or store them in an airtight container until ready to serve. These treats are best enjoyed the same day for freshness.

Notes

  • If using real flower pots, ensure they are clean and food-safe or use disposable candy flower pots designed for food use.
  • You can substitute gummy candies with other colorful edible decorations like candy melts or fondant flowers.
  • Use crushed chocolate cookies as the ‘soil’ to add texture and extra chocolate flavor.
  • Store flower pot brownies in a cool, dry place and consume within 1-2 days for best taste.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan brownie recipes and candies.
