Description
A simple and hearty ground beef and potatoes dish made with savory beef, tender golden potatoes, and aromatic seasonings, perfect for a comforting everyday meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (thyme or parsley)
- 1/2 cup optional vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, or peas)
Instructions
- Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and cook the potatoes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender (about 10–15 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil and cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart as it browns.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and the beef is fully cooked.
- Stir in optional vegetables if using and cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
- Return the cooked potatoes to the pan and mix everything together.
- Season with paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs. Cook for an additional 3–5 minutes to blend flavors.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Cook potatoes separately first to achieve a crispy texture.
- Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking potatoes.
- Add cheese on top for extra richness if desired.
- Use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative.
- Add chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicy variation.
