Description

A simple and hearty ground beef and potatoes dish made with savory beef, tender golden potatoes, and aromatic seasonings, perfect for a comforting everyday meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (thyme or parsley)
  • 1/2 cup optional vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, or peas)

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and cook the potatoes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender (about 10–15 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining oil and cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart as it browns.
  4. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and the beef is fully cooked.
  5. Stir in optional vegetables if using and cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
  6. Return the cooked potatoes to the pan and mix everything together.
  7. Season with paprika, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs. Cook for an additional 3–5 minutes to blend flavors.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Cook potatoes separately first to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking potatoes.
  • Add cheese on top for extra richness if desired.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken as a lighter alternative.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce for a spicy variation.
