Description

Halloween Monster Burgers are a fun and spooky twist on the classic cheeseburger, perfect for a festive Halloween party. These burgers feature colorful toppings and creative presentation to resemble monsters, making them both delicious and visually entertaining for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

For the Monster Toppings

  • Green food coloring, a few drops
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 8 black olives, sliced (for eyes)
  • 1 cup sliced red bell peppers (for monster hair)
  • Ketchup, for decorating mouths
  • Mayonnaise, as needed
  • Optional: Pickle slices, for additional decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Gently mix to combine without overworking the meat. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties slightly larger than the buns to allow for shrinkage during cooking.
  2. Cook the Burgers: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
  3. Prepare the Monster Features: While the patties cook, add a few drops of green food coloring to mayonnaise and mix until you have a pale green monster ‘slime’. Slice olives into halves for the monster eyes, and arrange the sliced red bell peppers to mimic hair.
  4. Assemble the Burgers: Toast the hamburger buns lightly. Spread green colored mayonnaise on the bottom bun, add a generous layer of shredded lettuce, then place the cheeseburger patty on top. Decorate with olive eyes and red bell pepper hair on top of the patty. Use ketchup to draw scary monster mouths on the top bun.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Place the decorated top bun over the patty carefully and serve immediately. These Halloween Monster Burgers are perfect for a themed party or a festive family meal.

Notes

  • For a juicier burger, choose ground beef with a higher fat content, such as 80/20.
  • You can customize monster features using other vegetables like sliced cucumbers or shredded carrots.
  • If you want to prepare ahead, assemble the patties and toppings separately, then assemble just before serving.
  • Use gluten-free buns if you require a gluten-free option.
  • Adjust spice and seasoning to your preference or add garlic powder or onion powder to the patties for extra flavor.
